Are ear infections contagious between people?

One of my colleagues has got an ear infection recently. I hope it's not contagious, right?

  Not really! Ear infections themselves aren’t contagious, so you don’t need to worry. Though if it came from a cold or the flu, those germs can spread, so just be a little careful.
